Our Work

Cape Coast Cycleway

A blend of art and narration to inform visitors about the local area

The 15-kilometer cycle trail spanning the stunning Cape Coast embraces a wealth of cultural and historical significance. This project focused on placing carved sculptures at various locations along the trail to highlight and celebrate the stories of the land and its people. Each marker blends art and narration so visitors can engage more meaningfully with the local area.

The Work

A community effort, the project evolved into a full arts and heritage trail, incorporating visually engaging information kiosks. The interpretive artwork was designed to captivate, offering visitors a deeper appreciation of the context of the region as they journey through it.

Named Te Matau-a-Māui Coastal Trail, the route now offers elaborate indigenous artwork in combination with discovery panels, encouraging people to reflect on their interaction with the surrounding landscape. Stories of the community and their history echo through the wheel spokes of all who pass through the characteristic Cape Coast.
